Current pets:
Judd: 8 years old as of March 1, 2011: I adopted, Judd, a yellow lab, after fostering him for only 2 weeks for ARFhouse Chicago. He was my second foster dog and to be honest, Judd adopted me. He was given up by his owners after 6 years and even though I hate it when owners give their pets up, I’m glad they did. This goofy, but sensitive boy is best my bud and makes each day a little brighter.

Cleo: 7.5 years old as of July 1, 2011: Cleo is a miniature schnauzer and another ARFhouse dog that made her way into my home and my heart. What can I say about this little lady? Well, she’s as feisty as she is loyal. This confident little lady has taught me so many things; the most important being that when you give a dog your respect (and a little patience) the love they reward you with is immeasurable.

Animal Related Experience:
I grew up in a small southern Tennessee city, Winchester. Like most rural areas, people turned their heads to the stray dog abundance and muted their voices to animal advocacy. However, my mom and dad bucked this trend and I give them credit for my love and respect for animals. They were constantly bringing home strays or taking in dogs whose families didn’t have a place for them anymore. We nursed many back to health and found homes for the ones we could and kept the ones we couldn’t find homes for. When I moved to Chicago, I wanted to continue working with animal rescue and I fell in love with ARFHouse Chicago. I began helping with events, walking dogs, and fostering. Through ARFhouse Chicago, I was introduced to Mutt Hutt and offered a great career opportunity to pair my professional experience with my passion for animals. I graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Masters in Business Administration. My undergrad work, also in business administration and economics, was completed at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. I worked for a fortune 500 Company during undergrad and grad school before moving to Chicago to become a commercial real estate broker. Now that I’m with Mutt Hutt, I look forward to work each day and seeing proud parents drop off their “kids” for daycare or for an overnight stay or two. I also look forward to seeing the ARFhouse adoptables getting the socialization, exercise and attention from caring attendants that they wouldn’t get in regular shelters. The generosity and compassion shown by the Mutt Hutt crew toward the shelter dogs is nothing less than amazing. The professionalism and service to their clients is top notch, too. I’m so proud to be a part of Mutt Hutt where everyone genuinely cares about the welfare of all the animals in their care, client and shelter dogs alike.
